Unity Package Types
Spaces & Space Templates
The creator toolkit lets you create two types of “Space” assets: Spaces and Space Templates
- Space: When a space package is published for the first time, a space for that asset is automatically created in your spatial account. Creator-toolkit spaces are just like any other space, but you won’t be able to change the environment on it because it is explicitly linked to your space-package asset.
- Space Template: These are meant to be reusable environment scenes that you can create multiple spaces with. To create a space using a space template that you previously published, go to spatial.io/create, then select your template from the “Creator Toolkit” section of the menu

Converting a Space Template into a Space
Previously, we only supported publishing space assets as “Environments”, which have now been renamed to “Space Templates”.
It is currently not possible to convert the assets, but we are working on this. You will be able to convert the asset straight from the creator toolkit unity editor.
If you don’t mind having duplicate assets, you can simply create a new “Space” package, and assign the scene and thumbnail to the new package, then re-publish. This will, however, create a new space in your account.
